Hauptwerk 2 Display Pages:

The Main Console Display

Experience the organ console with striking detail to the original console. The main console puts the organist virtually seated at the organ with all stop knobs and other mechanical devices within arms reach. Each draw knob is animated which allows users to experience the "old style" of stop changes.
Noise movements from keys, pedals, stop knobs, blower and tremulant were all recorded and are included as part of the organ.
Arp Schnitger utilized the short octave for both keyboards. The original note compass is CDE-c3 of 47 notes which omits the low C# and D#. However these notes were digitally repitched from neighboring notes to fill in the missing notes. Although the key arrangement on the screen is true to the original playing through a MIDI keyboard will perform as normal with all notes in the appropriate place.

The Stop Control Display

The Stop Control display page mirrors the Main Console display page with large easy to read stops, pistons and couplers. Engaging a control from this display page will automatically engage the same control on the Main Console and vice versa. 10 General pistons are included to faciliate registration changes. A Pedal coupler has been added on this display page for further versatility with this instrument. The original organ did not have a pedal coupler. Likewise we have virtually reinstalled the manual coupler which has been deactivated for the church in Cappel as it was thought to be too large of a sound for the smaller church.
The display is also split down the middle to allow for dual monitor use. Simply drag the display page half way to a second monitor and users can create a realistic control interface for real time playing. Using a touch screen will also create a much more realistic approach to performing on this virtual organ.

The Blower Room

The Blower Room display page demonstrates the virtual wind system of Hauptwerk 2. With the wind system activated users may monitor the status and movement of the 4 bellows that pump the organ. Originally the organ had 6 bellows which have been replaced by 3 wedge bellows. In the Hauptwerk version we have created the organ with 4 bellows to have a compromise between the original 6 and current 3. As more stops are drawn with many notes being played the demand for wind increases and you will see the bellows deflate and inflate to gather more wind to maintain the organs winding. The bellows have oscillations similar to the real organ and one will hear these effects while playing with the Hauptwerk 2 wind system enabled.

Temperaments:

The original organ pitch is A=465(one semi-tone higher than A=440) and is tuned to an equal temperament. Included with the Hauptwerk 2 set are several historic temperament files which allow the organ to remain at A=465 while using these temperaments. The included temperaments are Silbermann, Kellner, KirnbergerIII, WerckmeisterIII, MeanTone-QuarterCommaPietroAaron, and the new Lehmann-Bach temperament. If users wish to perform on the organ at normal A=440 then you may simply choose one of the standard Hauptwerk 2 temperaments that are already included with Hauptwerk 2. These will repitch the notes to proper A=440 pitch. We would like to thank Martin Dümig for creating these special temperament files.
