The Willis virtual instrument comes in stereo at 24
bit 48kHz resolution with multiple loops for each sample, with some samples containing up to 6 or more loops. The set also includes 2-3 extra release samples for every pipe and additional tremulant releases for OST sampled ranks for a total of 4 release samples. Samples are long and can be up to 10 seconds or more (choosing multiple-loop option in Hauptwerk). The following list shows various memory requirements for loading the entire instrument which will allow you to see how the organ may fit into your computer specifications. Note that users may disable ranks of samples from loading to even further reduce RAM use.
Memory Requirements STEREO (Includes Memory for Hauptwerk):
Volume I
24 bit, uncompressed, multiple loops 11.67 GB
24 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 7.07 GB
20 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 6.10 GB
Default-16 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 3.73 GB
16 bit, lossless compression, single loops 2.69 GB
Volume II
24 bit, uncompressed, multiple loops 19 GB
24 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 11.5 GB
20 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 10 GB
Default-16 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 6 GB
16 bit, lossless compression, single loops 4.5 GB
Volume III
24 bit, uncompressed, multiple loops 24.2 GB
24 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 14.5 GB
20 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 12.5 GB
Default-16 bit, lossless compression, multiple loops 7.66 GB
16 bit, lossless compression, single loops 5.8 GB
Hauptwerk 3 allows samples to be loaded in 14 bit which will reduce memory requirements even further. However please note that this will cause degradation of audio quality. We recommend at least loading in 16 bit for better results. Loading in 20 and 24 bit will give noise free playback.
Loading in Mono reduces Stereo memory requirements by half.
*** Memory amounts may vary slightly on different systems. These are only general guidelines.
Licensing:
The Willis
sample set
files are encrypted. You must be running the Basic or Advanced version (not the Evaluation or Free Edition)
of Hauptwerk 3.20 or above to install this product. Without a valid license the set will not be
playable. By purchasing this set, you will receive a license update specific to
your dongle (Hauptwerk USB key) to allow
functionality of the sample set. For further licensing information please see our licensing page.
Computer Requirements: To take full advantage of the
entire organ and Hauptwerk features we recommended using a PC or Macintosh computer with the following
system requirements or better. A quad-core or better computer is recommended. However lesser systems may still work adequately depending on the
options chosen in Hauptwerk.
This product will work fully on a Mac computer running Hauptwerk and was tested with the Mac and PC systems listed below.
We tested the complete Salisbury with the following computer.
Mac Pro OS X 10.7.2 (Lion)
2x 3.0 gHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (Clovertown) Processors (8 cores)
32 GB 667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered DIMM ECC
1 TB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200-rpm hard drive
RME Fireface 800 (48 kHz or higher audio device required)
ADS Tech Firewire PCIe card (400 mbps only. Using the onboard 400/800 Firewire card does not allow sync with the FP-10)
MOTU MIDI Express XT (MIDI Patchbay)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics with 256 MB memory
USB Port for Hauptwerk dongle license (USB key)
(2)16x double-layer SuperDrive for installation DVDs
20 GB free hard drive space for DVD installation, another 3-12 GB available for cached sample files
